While not actually part of government, one of the two major political parties here in Tennessee just made it harder to run for office as a member of their party. Last week the Executive Committee of the Tennessee Republican Party approved a sliding fee schedule for all primary candidates. It is just another example of the new aristocracy trying to solidify their hold on power and determining who can and cannot run for office in this state.
