Came across this part of the Tennessee State Constitution after a discuss with a friend last night.
Article I, Section 4 – “That no political or religious test, other than an oath to support the Constitution of the United States and of this state, shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under this state.”
I have also attached the state’s Constitution for your perusal. Give it a read. I often tell my followers and listeners that the best weapon to arm ourselves with in the fight against tyranny are our state and federal constitutions.
Consider Article I Section 4 when political parties try to define their tests to determine if a citizen can run for public office.
