A Reminder and Update – Independent Candidate

Just what is an Independent, Constitutional Conservative Candidate?

Many may be wondering just what is an Independent candidate. Or, why am I running as an Independent candidate. Well, I will answer both of those questions in this post.

First, what is an Independent candidate. There are many definitions, but the one that applies to me is this – I am Independent from the control of any political party. I owe no fealty to a party or it’s positions. If elected I will only owe allegiance to the Constitutions (state and federal) and the people of this district. Not a party, a PAC, corporations, or lobbyists. The two-party system in our state and in our nation is destroying the Constitutional Republic our Founding Fathers passed down to us. Additionally, there is very little difference between the two parties with regards to their main goals – power and control of government. They no longer understand that the citizen is the sovereign in our nation. The party elites want to be the sovereign. Their positions are antithetical to how our Constitution and Republic is designed to function. Again, I will only owe allegiance to the true sovereigns in our country – “We The People”, and our Constitutions.

I believe President George Washington summarized what would happen when political parties dominated the Republic. He had this to say in his farewell address to the nation in 1796 –

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.” The father of our nation was accurately prescient.

Additionally, while I do align more closely with the stated positions of the GOP (not their actions) more than I do the DNC, our state’s GOP has added additional qualifications outside of the state’s Constitution for running as a GOP candidate. Certain requirements to prove that I am a “bona fide” Republican, as well as requiring a significant amount of money as a political donation (not a fee) to the party in order to receive the TNGOP’s blessing to run as their candidate. Corruption and unconstitutional requirements for a party that states they represent the Constitutions of both the USA and Tennessee.

So, I decided to run as an Independent. I am a 30-year Veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States of America that knows how to follow an oath to the Constitution. I consider myself a Constitutional Conservative – meaning I want to conserve the constitutional principles that founded the greatest nation on the planet.

This, from our federal constitution, is what I want to “conserve” –

Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution – “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

I am humbly asking for your vote in this election and do not want you to be concerned about what my status as an Independent Candidate means. I will know which master to serve – the people.

Will you stand in the arena with me this election cycle?
