An Open Letter to TN General Assembly

To Representatives Griffey, Howell, Williams, Campbell and Todd along with Senators White, Watson, Gardenhire, Briggs and Jackson:

I am forwarding an email I sent to other state legislators as well as media outlets and the Governor yesterday. I am also cc’ing Speakers Sexton and McNally as well as the appointment members of the joint study committee on this email.
While I am pleased with the report in the Tennessee Journal about House Speaker Sexton and Senate Speaker McNally assembling a joint study committee on the illegal alien invasion enabled by our federal government, we are well aware of what these study committees produce from past experience.
Inaction, wasting of time, or proposed action without teeth.
It is high time that the General Assembly, along with our Governor, take firm action in asserting its proper role in the relationship with the federal government – that of the parent.
Too many states have become addicted to the federal dollars the federal government bribes them with to carry out their policies or turn a blind eye and feign powerlessness to prevent the theft of the citizens’ liberty, It has gone on for far too long. I do not know how many of the elected representatives in our General Assembly are addicted to these federal dollars but recovery can only happen by going cold turkey. Each of you on this email swore this oath:
“…. solemnly swear that, as a member of this, the One Hundred Eleventh General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, I will faithfully support the Constitution of this State and of the United States, and I do solemnly affirm that as a member of this General Assembly, I will, in all appointments, vote without favor, affection, partiality, or prejudice; and that I will not propose or assent to any bill, vote or resolution, which shall appear to me injurious to the people, or consent to any act or thing, whatever, that shall have a tendency to lessen or abridge their rights and privileges, as declared by the Constitution of this State. So help me God.”
The federal governments actions are an “act or thing” that is abridging our rights. Addiction to federal dollars that is generation theft of the citizens’ sweat equity, liberty, is another “act or thing” that abridges our rights.
Act now and assert the sovereignty of our state. Protect our borders. Protect our citizens. You all swore an oath to do so. I served my country for more than 30 years in the Armed Forces of the United States of America and swore an oath to do so that has not expired even though I no longer wear the cloth of our nation. I am willing to have an open discussion with any of you or provide lessons on how to live up to an oath.
Sincerely, Larry
